Our second year student Alexander Vakarelov has recently been featured on The Rookies for his remarkable 3D art project “Scrooge McDuck Meets Rembrandt”.
In the article, Alexander shares his journey of reimagining Rembrandt’s Parable of the Rich Fool in 3D, replacing the central figure with the iconic Scrooge McDuck. His project was part of his 3D3 exam assignment, where students were challenged to merge classical art with modern pop culture. Through detailed sculpting, texturing, and lighting, Alexander brought this unique concept to life. Demonstrating both technical prowess and creative storytelling.
The Rookies article delves into Alexander’s workflow, from initial sketches and blocking out the scene, to learning new tools like ZBrush and XGen for digital sculpting and hair grooming. His ability to learn new skills on the go, showcases the level of excellence we encourage at DAE.
We invite you to read the full feature on The Rookies and celebrate Alexander’s achievement. His journey is an inspiration to fellow students and a testament to the high standards of education at Howest DAE. Congratulations, Alexander!
