Game Design 2

During the Game Design 2 classes each student takes the role of game designer in a team of co-designers. The goal is to draw up a design document and to create a playable demo for a 3D video game. Students are asked to create a game world and to outline a theme or story that put the game in a context. The focus is on designing interesting gameplay with a minimum of control buttons, a small set of rules, and narrow decision spaces. Restrictions in regard to target audiences are usually given and the game has to be playable on a PC but there are no restrictions in the choice of input devices.

Students are expected to collaborate outside the classroom as well. Google Drive, HacknPlan and Perforce are collaborative software solutions designed to achieve a common end result with a group of users. These applications support the (virtual) collaborative processes of the students in real time on the same game project. Unity3D(C#) is still the game engine of choice here and the knowledge and skills obtained during the platform development classes can be applied and expanded.
